Mathematics, CBSE class 6
The year the number line stops being a picture on the wall and starts being a tool. Whole numbers, the first geometry with a name attached to it, and the beginnings of the idea that a letter can stand for something you do not know yet.
CBSE class 6 sets one chapter of maths, 10 topics between them. It is Ganita Prakash, Grade 6.
Chapters
My child can do the sums but cannot do the word problems. Why?
Because those are two different skills, and only one of them has been practised. Turning a sentence into an equation is the harder half and it is rarely taught on its own. Wobo takes a word problem apart on the board a phrase at a time, shows which words became which symbols, and says the reasoning aloud as it goes.
